Antique 1900 Poppies and Wheat book by Louisa May Alcott with a stunning red poppy flowers cover.
In 1887 Alcott (author of Little Women) published a group of short stories connected by a club of young women in 1880s Boston, A Garland for Girls. Each story featured a different coming-of-age narrative of a young woman, reflecting their individual struggles and opportunities. The collection's popularity encouraged the publisher to issue a series of them, with each story featured in a separate, beautifully designed publication. This is a stunning edition of an uncommon Alcott title.
Due to its age, there is wear and discoloration on the cover, spine, and pages. There is an inscription from 1903 in the front (pictured). Book measures about 7.5" x 5" (skinny <.5" spine). Please note that photos may appear brighter than actual book.
